Through her seven uproarious seasons on Saturday Night Live (SNL), Kristen Wiig established many outgoing and usually a little uncanny personalities. She is no longer a recurring member of the SNL cast, but much of her work is still coveted as comedy gold, and her returns as a guest host are joyful occasions.  Her characters range from real-life folks such as Nancy Pelosi and Gwen Stefani to Diane Stewart and Madonna, to hilarious fictional characters like Surprise Sue and Dooneese, and the following are our top seven picks of her best characters throughout the seasons!

1. Dooneese

With her tiny hands, squeaky voice, and giant forehead, Dooneese “charms” as a recurring (but not necessarily welcome) guest on the Lawrence Welk Show. She doesn’t quite seem to fit in with her sisters and their act from the Finger Lakes. Although her interjections are usually not appropriate, her wit and tendency not to be embarrassed by her own comments enable laughs for all. Check out her first appearance on the Lawrence Welk show here!

2. Gilly

When class is in session with Gilly, one never knows what antics may be afoot! Her class with Rosario Dawson is full of silly pranks and she always seems to have one more trick up her sleeve. 3. Kat

One hilarious half of Garth and Kat, the dynamic musical duo, Kat possesses the ability to make up “hit songs” on the spot with her partner Garth. They play off of one another so well that sometimes the actors themselves have a hard time suppressing their chuckles! They seem to write tunes for every season and holiday, including Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentine’s Day, and even songs about the summer and the winter. Take a listen here to their compositions about Halloween.

4. The Target Lady

The Target Lady is a personality put on by Wiig that is so enthusiastic about her job that it sometimes comes out in the wrong ways. Her interactions with customers can be awkward and usually contain just a little too much personal information, but always provide plenty of laughter. Here, Boogie (played by Daniel Radcliffe) has his own blunder-filled interaction with the Target Lady.

5. Surprise Sue

Sue was one of Wiig’s more unusually characters, she could never seem to keep any secret, no matter how big or small. Her level of excitement usually intensifies the level of stress for the fellow secret-keepers around her, who usually aren’t sure how to prevent her from letting the cat out of the bag! In this sketch, Sue struggles not to spoil the secret about a job promotion for a co-worker at the Playskool company.

6. Karina

Karina is one of the characters in the comedic and semi-dramatic sketch about the people in California on SNL, entitled The Californians. Lacking brains and pursuing drama and beauty, Karina always has a funny face to make or a comment to offer. In this sketch, Karina comes back and pretends to be the gardener at the mansion when everyone thought she was dead!

7. Kathie Lee Gifford

One of the Today Show’s most well-known personalities, Kathie Lee Gifford is one of Kristen Wiig’s most over-the-top and funny characters. It is a loud and bubbly personality that always seems to have a laugh and a glass of wine in hand, and Wiig offers the best set of uncharacteristic comments and crazy facial expressions to the sketches. Here, Wiig’s version of Gifford and her co-host Hoda Kotb (played by Jenny Slate) discuss animals and give their best imitations of The Black Eyed Peas, which does not end up too well for Gifford.
